Here are some suggestions for after an acupuncture treatment:
These are just suggestions, so feel free to try them or not. the most important thing after treatment is to try to relax, and to listen to your body.
Drink plenty of water.
Drink plenty of water.
- Like before treatment, there is no need to drink excessive amounts of water, but staying properly hydrated can help the body to keep the energy flowing and help to flush out any wastes that were moved by treatment.
- It’s normal to feel tired after treatment. I find that it’s usually best to just rest when your body wants to. The body knows itself, and can do some of its deepest work during sleep.
- This is so that your body can focus on integrating the changes made during treatment
- Eat enough food so that your body has the nutrients and fuel it needs to incorporate the changes made during treatment.
- Alcohol can reverse the flow of qi in the body, or disperse it if you drink too much. A little bit of alcohol drinken occasionally can be therapeutic, but it’s best to avoid it the day of acupuncture treatment.
- Taking an epsom salt bath a few hours after treatment can help the body relax, which helps the treatment take hold. Also, epsom salt baths can help with stress and muscle tension in general, which can be helpful any time--not just after acupuncture.
